Voice Threll: From cost-cutting to growth engine

For years we have heard that AI should increase efficiency and cut costs. But with Voice Threller – our term for Voice AI agents – something new is happening: we are not only seeing a boost to the bottom line, but also a significant impact on the top line.

For years we have heard that AI should increase efficiency and cut costs. But with Voice Threller – our term for Voice AI agents – something new is happening: we are not only seeing a boost to the bottom line, but also a significant impact on the top line.

This means that a Voice Threll is not just a tool to save money. It is a growth engine for the entire business – driven by conversations that convert.

The calculations below are an example with round numbers, not a promise. The point is the structure: put your own figures in and the logic holds.

Bottom line: The costs that disappear

Many associate AI with automation of customer service. And yes – the benefits here are significant:

  • A traditional customer service team: 10 employees × 600,000 NOK = 6 million NOK/year.
  • With a Voice Threll: The need can be reduced to 4 employees = 2.4 million NOK/year.
  • AI operation: 1.2 million NOK/year.

Total costs with AI: 3.6 million NOK/year

Savings: 2.4 million NOK/year – and this is a pure profit effect, krone for krone.

This alone is a strong business case. But it's only half the story.

Top line: Revenues that are growing

The true breakthrough lies in sales and growth potential.

  • Today: 1,000 leads/month, but only 700 get followed up. 10% of those convert → 70 sales/month.
  • With a Voice Threll: all 1,000 are followed up, and faster response times lift conversion to 12% → 120 sales/month.
  • At an average order value of 20,000 NOK: 2.4 million NOK/month, against 1.4 million NOK/month today.

Increased revenue: +1 million NOK/month = 12 million NOK/year

It is worth seeing where those twelve million come from, because the two drivers are not equally certain:

  • Full follow-up – 1,000 leads instead of 700, at the same conversion rate: +30 sales/month → 7.2 million NOK/year. This is pure capacity, and follows directly from no lead being left untouched.
  • Higher conversion – 10% → 12%, driven by shorter response times: +20 sales/month → 4.8 million NOK/year. This one assumes faster answers actually convert better in your business. Test it against your own numbers before banking it.

Here is the key: A Voice Threll isn't just about answering – it's about conversations that convert. The AI ensures that all leads are contacted and that no opportunities are missed.

The combined effect

Here it matters not to mix categories: the 2.4 million is saved cost, while the 12 million is revenue – not profit. To add the two together, the revenue first has to be brought down to contribution margin.

At a 30% contribution margin in this example – substitute your own:

  • Cost saved: +2.4 million NOK/year
  • Contribution margin on new revenue: 12 million × 30% = +3.6 million NOK/year
  • Total profit effect: +6 million NOK/year

So the top-line effect is +12 million NOK in revenue, and the profit effect of the whole move is +6 million NOK. Both numbers are worth knowing – but the second one is the business case.

Note that the growth portion alone (3.6 million NOK) is larger than the entire cost saving (2.4 million NOK). That is the main point.

The assumptions behind the numbers

  • 600,000 NOK in fully loaded annual cost per customer service employee – salary, employer's national insurance contribution, pension and holiday pay. If your cost is higher, the saving is larger.
  • 1.2 million NOK/year to operate the AI solution at this volume.
  • 20,000 NOK average order value and a 30% contribution margin.
  • Steady-state operation. Implementation, integrations and change management in year 1 come on top, and typically eat part of the gain in the first year.

More than efficiency

A Voice Threll is not just a cheaper way to answer phones. It is a new type of employee – a digital colleague – who works 24/7, never forgets a lead, and always delivers conversations that convert.

Companies that see Voice Threller only as a cost-saving measure are missing out on the biggest benefit. The real value lies in growth: more sales, faster responses, and more loyal customers – all driven by conversations that actually convert.

A Voice Threll is not just a support tool. It is a growth engine.
